From the 19th to the 23rd of March 2001, an exhibition of models on Maya architecture was presented at the Marius-Barbeau Museum in the Department of Anthropology of the University of Montreal (Canada).
Created in collaboration with Noelia Borredá Tatay, the objective of this exhibition was to expose the results of a Master's project done in 1999-2000. This study, entitled: Architectural Variability in the Maya Lowlands of the Late Classic Period: A Structural Analysis of Monumental Architecture, had for objective to approach ancient Maya cultural diversity with a structural analysis of the variability of monumental architecture (see the article Lominy 2001).
The event was a success but was too limited in time and space to be accessible to a large public. This virtual exhibition was created in collaboration with Stéphane Turgeon to overcome these constraints and give to a larger public the possibility of learning about one of the most remarkable architectures of all times. Since its publication in August 2001, the site has fulfilled its mission by attracting professionals, students and amateurs. It was updated in 2002 with new photos, in 2003 with new sections and in 2004 with new information.
Below are photos of the original exhibition.
